Terms of Use
Welcome to CutKnot. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of CutKnot, including our website, software, tools, services, documentation, and related features.
By using CutKnot, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you should not use the service.
1.About CutKnot
CutKnot is an independent tool designed to help sound editors and audio professionals improve interoperability between editing workflows, project formats, and production tools.
CutKnot is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to Apple, Avid, Cockos, Steinberg, Adobe, or any other third-party DAW, software vendor, or platform owner.
Third-party product names, trademarks, file extensions, and software references are used only to describe compatibility, import/export behavior, or user workflow context.
2.Compatibility and Interoperability
CutKnot provides compatibility and conversion features intended to help users move their own project data between tools.
Our interoperability work is developed from independently created test projects, user-owned files, and real-world sound-editing workflows observed through normal product use.
We do not copy, embed, distribute, or rely on proprietary DAW code, protected assets, private frameworks, vendor-owned media, or confidential documentation.
CutKnot is designed to process project information provided by users, such as session structure, tracks, regions, clips, timing, markers, metadata, and related workflow data, depending on the supported feature.
Compatibility may vary depending on the source file, destination format, software version, plug-ins, media availability, routing, automation, proprietary features, and third-party application behavior.
We do not guarantee that every project will convert perfectly or that every third-party application will open or interpret exported files in the same way.
3.Clean Engineering Statement
CutKnot is built with a clean interoperability approach.
Our conversion logic is based on files and workflows we create, own, test, or are authorized to process. We do not use proprietary source code, private SDKs, protected application assets, or technical circumvention to develop compatibility features.
Where CutKnot references third-party tools or formats, such references are made only to identify the intended workflow or compatibility target.
Nothing in CutKnot should be understood as granting rights in any third-party software, trademark, file format, plug-in, sample library, preset, loop, or protected media asset.
4.User Files and Responsibility
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to provide, process, convert, export, download, or otherwise use any files, audio, media, project sessions, metadata, or related content submitted to CutKnot.
You should not use CutKnot to process files that you do not own or are not authorized to use.
You are responsible for maintaining backups of your original files. CutKnot should not be used as the only storage location for important production files.
5.Third-Party Software and Services
CutKnot may help users work with files or workflows associated with third-party software. However, CutKnot does not control third-party applications, file format changes, licensing terms, operating system updates, plug-in behavior, or vendor-specific restrictions.
You are responsible for complying with the license terms of any third-party software, plug-ins, media libraries, sample packs, or services you use together with CutKnot.
CutKnot does not provide licenses to use any third-party software, plug-ins, samples, loops, presets, or media.
6.Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use CutKnot to:
- violate applicable laws or third-party rights;
- use or process files you are not authorized to use;
- copy, distribute, or extract protected third-party content without permission;
- bypass technical protection measures, licensing systems, access controls, or security restrictions;

7.No Warranty
CutKnot is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
We aim to provide reliable compatibility and conversion features, but we do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, complete, or compatible with every file, workflow, software version, or third-party application.
You should review converted files before using them in production.
8.Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CutKnot will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of projects, loss of revenue, loss of business, production delays, or workflow interruptions.
Your use of CutKnot is at your own risk.
9.Intellectual Property
CutKnot, including our website, software, interface, branding, documentation, and original content, is owned by CutKnot or its licensors.

10.Changes to the Service
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of CutKnot at any time. Compatibility features may change as third-party tools, operating systems, file formats, and user workflows evolve.
